steve herrodSteve Herrod on stage, He starts talking about the new vCloud Suite where vSphere is the core component. supporting vSphere 5.1 64vCPU, 1Tb/VM, 1M IOps per VM.

vSphere is going to be the hypervisor where you can virtualize everything. VMware aim to run tier 1 apps faster than on physical (SAP, Exchange, Sharepoint, Oracle)

Future storage directions: Virtual Volumes, Virtual Flash…the Virtual SAN. this will be awesome. there will be 2 sessions I will be attending including one group discussion. I will be writing about Virtual SAN in my next couple of posts.

next is vCloud Director and talking about all the new software defined software that will be join together in suites. VXLAN is going to be a big part about implementing software defined datacenters over different locations. For those who don’t know: VXLAN is a Open system where all network vendors worked together to create a protocol to stretch the Layer 2 etwork over location.

Herrod announced the possibility to manage Hyper-V, Connect to and manage Hyper-V from Multi-Hypervisor Manager. Available sometime this quarter.
